Medical LCD displays have already replaced the voluminous tube monitors in recent years. Volume 5 of the series medical and information technology provides the interested reader with the basic knowledge and information to find the right LCD display for the different medical disciplines. 

LCD displays in medical use are costly manufactured than traditional monitors for office applications. Especially in radiology the high-resolution digital displays for the diagnosis of X-ray images are prescribed through the X-ray regulation and quality assurance Directive (QSRL). But also in other medical disciplines such as endoscopy, ophthalmology, dermatology, etc. there are requirements for color fastness, angle stability and reflection of displays, in order to obtain a high quality diagnosis and therapy.
